Luke 12:1 Beware of Hypocrisy

“In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” Luke 12:1

Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites. He knew their hearts and called them what they were. However, Jesus did not speak to His disciples this way. He warned them to BEWARE of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. In this, Jesus is basically telling us to not act like the wicked.

In 21st Century terms, Jesus is saying “Don’t be a Facebook Christian” or just a “Twitter follower of Jesus.”

So many Christians take great efforts to appear like disciples of the Lord in public but their private lives don’t match their public conversation.

Social media posts that claim to be spreading the gospel are actually doing harm to cause of Christ because the person talks the talk but does not walk the walk.

I think this is exactly what the Apostle John had in mind when he wrote: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1st John 2:6)

Can I get a +1? (Oops, I mean, "Amen"?)
