Proverbs 11:1-3

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
1 - According to scripture, the economy is a moral issue. The Lord delights in honest business. Crooked business is not just considered sin by the Lord. He is sees it as an abomination, utterly disgusting!
Paul told those at Thessolonica that if a man didn't work, neither should he eat.
We are to be honest and not be slothful in our work.
2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
2 - When we let our pride rule our tongue and actions we will always, disappoint, embarrass do bring ourselves to shame. A patient person, that acts with discretion, is grounded in wisdom and has no cause to be ashamed.
In a gospel sense, Paul was not ashamed of the gospel. If man’s work and will were causative in salvation, there would be reason for boasting and pride. Since Paul is not ashamed of the gospel, that must mean that salvation is by grace plus nothing!
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
3 - the righteous, when acting with discretion, are not flying about looking to get into trouble. They know that the only lasting joy is the Lord. This knowledge only leads in good paths.
The wicked, however, seek fun and excitement to the point they destroy themselves and don't know how they got there. When your only light for your path is darkness, it's pretty difficult to see the right way to go!
