Run!!!

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
This is another excellent set of verses that show what kind of effort we should put toward being All In for the Lord. By God’s grace, we have been saved and brought to new life. We can now see that we are in a race of righteousness. It is not a race to save ourselves eternally, Christ has done that for us! It is the same idea as Romans 12. We are in a race for our minds.
When we put all of our energy into a fellowship with God, we can more clearly see how strong that grace-filled relationship is. When we run strong, we feel more assurance. When we lose our focus, we take our eyes off the Lord and begin to lost the race for our minds. We see the waves rising around us just like Peter and we begin to sink. It is then we need to respond like Peter and cry out for the Lord to save us. He saves us to return to our race of thankful obedience as grateful disciples of Christ.
