God Hates Sickness
25 September 2014
"And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them." (Luke 4:38-39)
Did you know God hates sickness as much as you do?
So, why doesn't He heal all sickness?
First of all, we need to understand that sickness and disease are not God's design. They are the result of sin's curse on the world. God made everything perfect but man has destroyed this purity with sin. Illnesses exist as a direct result of sin.
In 1st Corinthians 11, Paul addresses the fact that sickness and even death are a direct result of people living in sin.
Secondly, just because God does not heal a person does not mean that He does not love him. Paul sought the Lord three times that He would remove what he called a "thorn in the flesh." God basically told him "no" all three times, reminding him the God's grace was sufficient to help him through the problem.
A fact often forgotten is that all those who were healed by Jesus and His disciples eventually died. By whatever cause, sin still took their lives. I mention this because the signs and wonders done by Christ were to confirm His identity as the Messiah. These also pointed to a much greater day of healing when Jesus shall return in the clouds and resurrect our bodies incorruptible and undefiled.
Jesus will ultimately heal us not only from illness but from its cause, sin. We will be healed of sin and its consequences. We will live with no possibility of illness, pain, or loss. We will I've in holiness never to die again!
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."(Isaiah 53:5)
