Is God Limited By Our Lack of Faith?

5 September 2014

"The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way." (John 4:49-50)
nolimits

The nobleman was rebuked by Jesus for believing that Jesus had to be PRESENT with his son in order to heal him. Yet even after the rebuke, the man pleads desperately for his son. And again in his plea, he begs Jesus to go to the boy.

Immediately, Jesus heals the man's son and sends him back home.

Wait a minute! Do you mean to tell me that even though the man was acting in disbelief, or at best partial belief, that Jesus was able to act?

Yes, that is exactly what I mean.

John has just recorded three very fundamental things about the power of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

1. Jesus is not limited to any single type of miracle. Jesus has power over all of creation even to the level of healing the deathly ill.
2. Jesus is not limited by geography. He can perform miracles from wherever He is.
3. Jesus is not limited by man's faith. He can act even when man is unbelieving.

God is all powerful and mighty to save! Our level of faith may fluctuate at times but God's power does not.

That is why it is so comforting to remember that faith DOES NOT precede the act of God in the salvation of the new birth. Faith is the evidence of a work that God, in Jesus, has already finished!

Remember, there are no limits to the power of God not even our lack of trust and belief!
