"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."(1st John 4:4-5)

By the sovereign grace of God, His children have overcome the false spirits that seek to influence them. Even though the temptations and influences are still there, the born again child of God is no longer held captive by These lies.  The Spirit of God dwells in him and teaches him the truth about God's Son

Peter was able to make the confession that Jesus was the Son of the living God because the Father had taught it to him from the inside! His confession did not give him life but it clearly manifest that eternal life was in him. 

If something doesn't sound quite right, listen to the Spirit speaking in you and avoid it, even if you don't know why. And be diligent to study the Scriptures, so that you can interpret the messages being spoken to your heart by the Spirit. Then, you will not only recognize what is truth or error, but why it is so.
