Not Just Another Good man

5 January 2015

And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.” (John 5:16-18)

The popular ecumenical approach in christianity today is in conflict with not only sound doctrines of the Bible but the very definition of who Jesus is!

Jesus is either the true Son of God or He is the worst heretic to ever walk the face of the earth.

This passage in John 5, along with a host of other proclamations made by Jesus, show that Jesus believed He truly was the Son of God and therefore equal to God the Father. He never denies this. In fact, He proves His deity by proclamation, witness testimony, and miraculous works.

True believers know this to be fact, but those seeking to redefine Jesus as just another good example to follow must deny Jesus’ own words in order to describe Him. The current fad of ecumenical religion is doing just that. In order to make Jesus less controversial and more palatable to other religions, popular christianity has ignored the Jesus of the Bible and replaced the King of kings with a myth!

The biggest problem with this idea is that Jesus Himself says WAY too much about being the Son of God to just call him a good man. In fact, if Jesus was just an ordinary man, then he is the worst sinner and heretic that ever lived! He claimed to be equal to God. How can a man claim that and be considered good?

Jesus either HAS to be God or a horrible sinner. You can’t have it both ways!

Jesus was not concerned about being a divisive person:

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."(Matthew 10:34-39)

If Jesus was not ashamed of His identity, then Christians should not be either.
