“In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.” (Isaiah 19:23-25)

There were many efforts to make peace and form alliances between Judah, Assyria and Egypt. These efforts failed miserably because they sought it by human means and for human glory.

We have already seen a dramatic change in language from the judgment of God to the healing of God in this chapter. Now, we will see that in fact God DOES want a unity among these three nations. However, it is not war, politics or economic trade that will bring about this alliance. It is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The young church (mostly Jewish) will be a moderator of sorts because the gospel will be first preached there and then spread to these other lands.

God will change the hearts of His people in these lands and the gospel will unite them. Then, God will bless the nations for the sake of His churches within their borders.

The true gospel unites the people of God for it is the gospel of peace. And this is the key for the perpetuity of any nation, including the United States. God will bless a nation for the joy and protection of the people in His churches. A nation who is hostile to the church faces the hostility of the Bridegroom of the church who will take vengeance for His bride!
