“But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;” 1st Thessalonians 4:9-10

We should never be satisfied with our level of discipleship. As part of that mentality, we should never think that we have loved others enough and we can now take a break.

God has loved us and put the desire to love in His children in the new birth. This love far exceeds any natural affection among humans. This love looks outside itself and seeks the benefit of others over self. It is sacrificial and benevolent. It gives and seeks nothing in return.

John tells us that, if we see this love in ourselves, it is a clear evidence that we have been born of the Spirit of God (1st John 3:14). When we find this love, we are not to just sit on it and be satisfied that we are children of God. We should seek out more and more opportunities to love others in thankfulness.
