Luke 12:45 Conflict Among Brethren

26 January 2017

“But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;” Luke 12:45

Before I speak to the cause and effect relationship so clearly shown in this verse, I want you to notice that this a SERVANT not an enemy that is being described. Jesus is not teaching this lesson trying to coerce obedience from someone dead in their sins. He is describing to us a scenario involving a child of God.

The effects in this passage are acts of physical and verbal violence toward fellow servants, and an overindulgence in the pleasures of this world.

The cause in this passage is that the servant denies that his lord could return at any moment.

The condition of Christianity in America today is hateful, gluttonous, and drunk with the philosophies of men. These are the effects of a very clear cause.

We have denied the imminent return of our Redeemer!

To find peace in Zion, we must focus on the hope of the return of Jesus Christ.
