Faith Mixed With Doubt
20 September 2014
"Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net." (Luke 5:4-5)
This passage shows that Peter obeyed the Lord by faith but at the same time he had doubts because of his previous fishing experience. However, the end was going to be a draught of fishes regardless of Peter's faith or lack thereof. Jesus said it was going to be that way so it was going to happen.
Our lack of faith does not and cannot limit the power of God. He is omnipotent which means He is all powerful. If we can limit Him by our unbelief then He would no longer be omnipotent.
However, our lack of faith will prevent us from seeing God at work. God may be working miracles and delivering us from evil every moment of our lives but we will not have the blessing of seeing this unless we are trusting Him by faith and not doubting His power.
If we have doubts and lack faith, we should remember that God can help us with that problem as well. Remember the words of of the father of a sick child:
"And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." (Mark 9:24)
Jesus died for all your sins including the sin of doubt and unbelief. Ask your Heavenly Father for help with your doubts. He stands ready to bless you all good things!
