The Power To Heal And To Save

"That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses." (Matthew 8:17)
The wondrous miracles of Jesus prove that He is the Messiah that was promised in the Old Testament. Matthew chooses to link this specifically to the prophecy found in Isaiah 53.
A closer look at this prophecy reveals that not only will the Messiah heal, He will also complete the work of salvation for the people of God. With His stripes we ARE healed!
As you read this of passage in Matthew 8, keep this fact in mind. For, just as it is sovereignly in the will and power of Jesus to heal, so it by His sovereignty alone that salvation comes to man.
