I Am The Lord

20 November 2015

Over the past few days, we have examined the very dark picture of Israel destroying itself by rejecting God. We have seen that churches in America are guilty of many of the same sins. This is a depressing and horrible fact to realize. And my continued question in all these articles may not offer much comfort, “Who may abide the day of His coming?"

If we look within ourselves (in our will, in our works),we will be miserably disappointed to realize that we cannot deny God’s wrath is what we deserve. For it has been our choice of our personal pleasure, will, and power over God’s that has put us in this situation.

But, fear not little flock! For it is not by our will or our works that we can be found holy and righteous in the presence of God. It is by His sovereign grace and mercy that we can “abide.” Consider these beautiful verses intermixed with all the other verses showing Israel’s rejection of God.

"For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6)

"And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” (Malachi 3:17-18)

"But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Malachi 4:2-3)

While Israel, in no less than seven ways, rejected God, God remained faithful. Let us rejoice that God is the same today and worship Him in His sovereign power, love, grace, and mercy!
